Teachers of learning disabled students serve the elementary, middle, and secondary schools in the Cooperative area. Students are usually served on an itinerant or resource room basis. The goals of the program are to identify and remediate specific learning disabilities in the areas of pre-academic skills, oral expression, listening comprehension, written expression, basic reading skills, reading comprehension, mathematical calculation, and mathematical reasoning. Another goal is to guide students in compensating for their disabilities. Learning disability teachers work to increase academic, vocational, and independent life skills. The teachers provide a learning environment in which students work at their ability level towards reaching their potential. |
