The Cooperative employs teachers for the mentally disabled. These services are available at all levels throughout the Cooperative area. Instruction may be received through self-contained classrooms, interrelated resource classrooms, or full inclusion in the regular education setting with teacher and paraeducator support. The program is designed to work with each student according to his or her individual needs. The focus of instruction is to develop daily living skills, social and academic competencies, and provide vocational training in preparation for and transition to independent living as adults. The staff of Marion County Special Education Cooperative encourages parent involvement in the development of their childs educational program and especially when initiating transitions to adult services. |
