Transition
All students age 14 and up who are receiving services from the Marion County Special Education Cooperative will receive Transition Planning Services during their high school careers. To help special education students with moderate to severe disabilities and their parents plan a smooth transition to adult life, the Marion County Special Education Cooperative with the support of the state of Kansas has established the Transition Planning Program. Administered by Kansas Rehabilitation Services (KRS), it is a cooperative effort among special education programs throughout the state: employers; adult service agencies; and community rehabilitation and residential organizations.
The Vocational/Transition program is a part of the special education program in which each student is enrolled. This vocational training program utilizes community and school based facilities. The purpose is to provide students with the opportunity to receive realistic vocational experiences in a variety of Marion County school settings, and area businesses or organizations. The students receive training at these job training sites as part of their overall school program. The job sites provide students with the opportunity to learn meaningful vocational skills in realistic work environments.
